Estate and gardens, established 1840

A house that
holds the light

Three rooms, forty acres, and one wedding a weekend. The Ambler is a working estate that gives you the whole of it, from the first coffee on the terrace to the last car down the drive.

The spaces

Three rooms.
One estate.

Book any one of them and the other two come with it. There is no second party on the other side of the wall, no queue for the drive, and no one asking you to be out by eleven.

Space 01

The Stone Hall

Nine metre ceilings, limestone walls the colour of a winter morning, and eleven arched windows that carry the light from breakfast right through to the last dance. Our largest room, and the one people book two years out.

Space 02

The Long Barn

A working barn from 1840, taken back to the frame and rebuilt around blackened steel and polished concrete. Warm at night, cool in August, and the acoustics are forgiving enough for a live band.

Space 03

The West Terrace

Wisteria over a stone balustrade, gravel underfoot, and a view that runs down to the water. Ceremonies here start at six so the light is behind you, and we hold the barn as the wet weather plan at no charge.

The year here

Every season
reads differently

Rates move with the light and the demand, not with the day of the week. A Friday in October costs what a Friday in October is worth.

Spring

Blossom on the drive and the orchard in flower. Cool evenings, so the barn earns its keep after dark.

From 9,400

Summer

The terrace at its best. Long light until nearly ten, dinner outside, and the hall left open to the garden.

From 14,200

Autumn

Copper light through the west windows and the vineyard turning. Our quietest season and our prettiest.

From 11,800

Winter

Candles from four in the afternoon, fires lit in both halls, and the whole estate to yourselves.

From 7,600

The enquiry

Four steps,
no chasing

We only take one wedding a weekend, so the calendar is short and the answer is quick. You will never wait a week to hear whether your date is free.

01

Send the enquiry

Tell us the season, the rough number, and whether you want a ceremony on site. We reply inside one working day with the dates that are still open.

02

Walk the estate

An hour with the events lead, no sales pitch. We walk all three spaces at the time of day your wedding would run, so you see the real light.

03

Hold the date

A signed agreement and a deposit hold the date for twelve months. Everything after that is scheduled around you.

04

Build the day

Four planning sessions, a menu tasting, a supplier list we actually stand behind, and a run sheet the whole team works from.

Check a date

A real person reads every one of these. Expect a reply the same working day.

Saturday, 12 September
The Stone Hall
Ceremony on the terrace, dinner inside

Party of 80 to 140. No deposit taken at this stage.

Come and see it
at six in the evening

That is when the west windows do the thing that sells the room. Bring whoever you like. We will put the kettle on and walk you round.
